Product information and installation guides
Fascia’s, Soffits and Guttering – Roofline.
Step 1: Fully remove all the old wooden fascia’s, soffits and guttering.
Step 3: Make good the rather ends, there is no point putting new pvc boards onto rotten rafters.
Step 4: Fix soffit boards to the underside of the rafters.
Step 5; Fix the fascia boards to the front of the rafters, this is a time to also attached your over ventilation or some call it concealed, a much better system than vented soffits.
Step 6: Lift up the first row of tiles and old felt, replace with a new plastic felt tray, this will stop any water getting passed the tiles and causing damp and ensure that all water coming down the roof goes into the gutter.
Step 7: If you have arched tiles then we would also install a bird guard system on top of the felt trays.
Step 8: Fix the guttering brackets and gutter to the front on the fascia’s boards ensuring there is a small fall for the water to flow.
Step 9: Place the first row of tiles back, covering the new felt trays and bird guard.
Step 10: Clean down all the new PVCu fascia, soffits and guttering and finish with of with a mastic line from soffit to brickwork.
NEVER COVER UP OR CAP OVER YOUR FASICA’s AND SOFFITS.
Nearly every cowboy roofer will also recommend that you get your roofline capped, its is very quick and easy to cap over the existing wood, doing the job right requires a lot more work and skilled tradesmen to carry out the work.
The timber will rot over time, due to moisture, water from the gutters, or maybe from a damaged roof tile. Once the old rotten wood is covered up your are hiding the problem and over time the rot with spread.
If Capped the gutter it pushed away from the tiles, when the water runs down the roof it is not going into the gutter, but call fall behind, leaving dirty marks on the fascia’s and walls.
When you cover the roofline it can have a knock on effect on your home, if the windows are close to the roofline you may be unable to open them fully as the end of the new fascia will be lower, this would be a major issue if your windows are fire escapes.
